Training
As one of many benefits of participating in the Coalition, HCRI provides members-only training and education events, and also promotes external education opportunities for its members.
If you want to view the current calendar or add an emergency management-related event, training, click the button below.
Training provides the whole community with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform key tasks required by specific capabilities, namely the Health Care Preparedness and Response Capabilities, issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response.
The Healthcare Coalition of Rhode Island encourages members to provide training to all staff on agency-specific emergency plans, policies, and procedures to ensure preparedness for all-hazards emergencies. In addition, HCRI members should familiarize themselves with the Coalition’s Preparedness and Response Plans, as well as the Healthcare System Event Work Plan.
A number of relevant training opportunities are offered by our State and federal partners, as well as counterparts in neighboring states. To find training opportunities, click on any of the organization logos below to be redirected to the organization’s training page (external). At the bottom of the page, there is a calendar of emergency management training opportunities in Rhode Island.
The HCRI Preparedness Training Matrix helps healthcare organizations identify which trainings are recommended for their personnel. The training recommendations are from governmental agencies, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), as well as non-governmental organizations, including the Joint Commission. The HCRI Preparedness Matrix is beneficial in preparing personnel for Incident Command (ICS) roles and understanding of the National Incident Management (NIMS) components.
A healthcare agency would use ICS (Incident Command System) forms to streamline and standardize the management of emergencies and incidents. These forms provide a structured way to document and communicate critical information, ensuring coordination among teams and agencies. By using ICS forms, healthcare providers can efficiently track resources, manage personnel, and maintain situational awareness during crises, improving overall response effectiveness.
