The second is the official application through FEMA which can be completed online once the preliminary application is approved by HCRI and the FEMA link below is activated.

Eligibility and Training Slots

Agencies eligible to apply for training are below, along with roster options and the number of individuals for each option. 

  • Primary registrants are guaranteed a training slot

  • Alternates registrants are not guaranteed a training slot but have a good chance of obtaining one. However, this will be based on the total registrants or cancellations from a primary.  

  • Backfill registrants will only receive a training slot if the primary or converted alternate cancels.

Integrated Capstone Event (ICE)

Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents

Is designed for Hospital staff members who comprise a Hospital Emergency Response Team, such as physicians, nurses, administrators, security personnel, environmental staff, and other hospital staff.

This three-day course prepares healthcare responders to utilize the Hospital Incident Command System — integrating into the community emergency response network while operating an Emergency Treatment Area as hospital first responders during a mass casualty incident involving patient contamination.

Prerequisites for the course include IS-100.c, IS-200.c, and IS-700.b.

 

Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents – Basic Train-the-Trainer 

This course prepares participants to teach HERT at their facilities by focusing on presentation techniques, practical applications, and the preparation and maintenance of lesson plans. The HERT-B TtT course provides students with an understanding of the HERT course material to include team assignments and functions, proper wear and removal of personal protective equipment , decontamination procedures, Emergency Treatment Area location selection, and operation, and victim triage.

Prerequisite for the course is the successful completion of Course 1 – HERT PER-902.

Integrated Capstone Event (ICE) 

The ICE promotes an interdisciplinary response to an all-hazards mass casualty incident where first responders and first receivers are challenged to perform functions such as initial call-out, scene size-up, rescue, decontamination, pre-hospital treatment, crime scene management, evidence collection, hospital response and more.
