FEMA and the FCC will test the Nation’s Emergency Alert System – All HCRI Members
On Wednesday, August 7, FEMA and the FCC will test the Nation’s Emergency Alert System by initiating a test message at 2:20pm. The test will be approximately one minute long, have a limited impact on the public with only minor interruption of radio and television programs, and will be similar to regular monthly EAS tests. Both the audio message and text crawl should be accessible to people with disabilities.
****UNLIKE LAST YEAR’S TEST, THERE IS NO CELL PHONE COMPONENT****
The audio alert will start with: “This is a test of the National Emergency Alert System…” and end with “…no action is needed.”
This test will look and sound similar to normal monthly EAS alert tests
